#blogbookaday: Mae and the Moon

Mae and the Moon.jpgSummary:  “Mae and the moon love to play together. Their favorite game is hide and seek. But when the moon disappears one evening and cannot be found, Mae wonders what happened and begins to worry. Determined to find her glowing friend, Mae takes matters into her own hands and sets off on a wonderful and curious voyage through her imagination.

This charming book, beautifully illustrated in soft moonlit hues, will capture the hearts of moon gazers everywhere.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Mae loves the moon, it follows her, plays games with her, and although could not be caught stayed high in they sky for Mae to wonder about. Until one night when the moon disappears – Mae is frantic to find her friend and with the help of a cardboard box and her imagination, Mae sets forth on an adventure to find the moon.

Personal Reaction: If the reader plays close attention, they’ll notice the phases of the moon as Mae describes what she does with the moon each night. I loved Mae’s creativity and imagination as she builds a rocket ship to set off into space, just in time to find the moon the following evening – back from it’s rest and ready to play another game of hide and seek with Mae. I loved the sweet illustrations in this story – everything told in dark, blues and the moon taking up gigantic parts of the night sky. A perfect bedtime book or STEM story about the various phases of the moon.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
