#blogbookaday: Amanda Panda Quits Kindergarten

Amanda Panda Quits KindergartenSummary:  “Kindergarten has never been funnier with the launch of this new, strong-willed character, in the style of Ladybug GirlLilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, and Bread and Jam for Frances.

Amanda Panda has BIG ideas for her first day of school. But when things don’t go according to plan, and when a pesky girl in a pink bow decides to be her best friend, she walks out on kindergarten and joins her brother in second grade. It takes an unlikely partner to fix Amanda’s terrible day–and to teach her about friendship, tolerance, and how to cope with life’s ups and downs.
Amanda Panda perfectly captures the spirit, motivations, and humor of a headstrong five-year-old girl–and will be sure to soothe back-to-school jitters.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Amanda Panda is a little quirky and definitely has her own ideas of what Kindergarten will be like. But, when an unlikely friend shows up in head-to-toe pink, who loves glitter and princesses, Amanda Panda learns that everything doesn’t have to go as planned to still have a great day!

Personal Reaction: I loved that Amanda Panda’s favorite color is brown, that she wants to drive a school bus, run really fast (downhill only) and build the tallest block tower. And I love how Bitsy shows Amanda what life can look just a little bit differently. This is a great book to read as kids are entering school about expectations, meeting new friends and trying something new. And it definitely won’t be the end of the world if you read it!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
