#blogbookaday: Snickerdoodle Takes the Cake

Snickerdoodle Takes the CakeSummary:  “When Snickerdoodle gets up before the rest of the family, he is thrilled to find one of Mom’s Famous Lemon Poppy Seed Cakes. Unfortunately it has a note on it that says “Do Not Touch.” In this test of his willpower, Snickerdoodle will attempt to bend the rules, and it will not go well for him. But Snickerdoodle will also use his brainpower to devise a plan that just might save the day.

A charismatic clan of chinchillas confronts everyday problems in this story of family life and foibles.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A sweet little chinchilla named Snickerdoodle absolutely loves his mom’s Famous Lemon Poppy Seed Cake with Buttercream Icing, but the note says,”Don’t touch!” Snickerdoodle and his siblings just love this cake too much and in the end all must pitch in to make a new cake for Na Na’s birthday.

Personal Reaction: This was a cute story about what happens when you just can’t control your cravings for cake and then must face the consequences. What I liked most about this story is that Snickerdoodle makes a mistake and then figures out a way to fix it, with the help of his siblings (and mom)!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
