#blogbookaday: My Pillow Keeps Moving!

My Pillow Keeps Moving.jpgSummary:  “A lonely man tries to buy a pillow . . . and ends up with a new best friend in this silly and sweet doggy tale, perfect for fans of Officer Buckle and Gloria .

Dogs make good pillows, don’t they?

A clever pup ends up in a cozy home, and she’ll do anything to stay there. She impersonates everything the lonely homeowner needs–a pillow, a footstool, a jacket. But in the end, being herself works best. Laura Gehl’s spare, humorous text and New Yorker cartoonist Christopher Weyant’s expressive characters will leave young readers giggling and begging for more.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A lonely man is looking for a pillow, footstool and jacket and ends up with a persistent dog that can be all three and so much more! This is the sweet story of a dog willing to do anything for a home of her own and even a grumpy old man won’t stop her. With laugh out loud scenarios and an imaginative puppy, this story is sure to make the kids giggle (especially if they love dogs).

Personal Reaction: I’m a dog person through and through, so this was absolutely adorable! I loved how each time the man complained about his purchase, the salesperson was quick to show how helpful the dog was and convince the man of a well-made purchase. I loved the little stanzas that repeat throughout as the man gets more and more irritated, but I think my favorite part was the ending (which I’m not going to spoil here!)

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
