#blogbookaday: Good Morning, Grizzle Grump!

Good Morning Grizzle Grump.jpgSummary:  “Winter is over! Spring has sprung! Grizzle Grump has just woken up from his long winter slumber. His big bear belly is quite rumbly. So he sets off with his trusty squirrel sidekick in search of a springtime snack.
He gathers berries, but they go missing.
He catches fish, but they disappear.

Grizzle Grump finally finds his food…along with another big surprise!
In this follow-up to Goodnight, Grizzle Grump!, Aaron Blecha presents another lively read-aloud tale with heart and humor.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Grizzle Grump is grumpy and hungry after hibernating all winter long, so he goes off to find some springtime snacks, but every time he finds the perfect snack they disappear! Grizzle Grump is not getting any happier (or full), until he head over the hilly hill and finds a surprise waiting for him! This book is full of onomatopoeic words and alliterations as Grizzle Grump searches high and low for the perfect snack. With bright, cartoon illustrations, this is the perfect story to read for springtime (or snack time, now I’m hungry!)

Personal Reaction: I loved the fully realized world (map included) of Grizzle Grump’s island. This book would work really well one-on-one as there is so much detail in the illustrations, I wouldn’t want a large group of kids to miss anything. I love how at the heart of this story is Grizzle Grump’s trusty sidekick, Squirrel creating a plan to surprise his friend! This is definitely a book to read if you can do voices, because a grumbling, rumbling bear voice would be absolutely perfect!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
