#blogbookaday: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Car

Twinkle Twinkle Little Car.jpgSummary:  “A little red car beeps good night to all of his four-wheeled friends in this fresh take on the classic song, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”

Twinkle, twinkle, little car,
how you love to travel far.
Now it’s time to go to bed.
But you want to drive instead.

It’s time for Little Car to go to sleep, but he isn’t tired yet! So he cruises around town saying goodnight to all of his friends, from the tractors in their shed to the buses and taxis in town to the cranes and diggers at the construction site. Finally exhausted, Little Car putt-putts home where at last his beep-beep dreams begin.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A little car is ready for bed yet so he goes on an adventure seeing all his friends – if you’ve got a kid who loves things-that-go, you’ve got to read this adorable bedtime book! I had a hard with the rhythm of the story and song pairing together, but if you sing the rhyming words, you’ll get some sort of rhythm out of it (mine probably wasn’t right, but it worked.) The illustrations are block prints which is different from other styles I’m used to and I love the texture it provides on the page. Overall, this is a sweet bedtime story for your little one who never stops going!

Personal Reaction: My nephew is two and a half and absolutely loves anything with wheels – he’s going to love this book! The little red car visits tractors, an airplane, the firehouse, a construction site, and a tug boat which means it’s right up his alley! I’ll definitely be sharing this story with him the next time I see him.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!

I plan to pick this one up for sure. I heard Kate speak at a writer’s conference last year and it was so motivational. She spoke of her writing journey and about this book. I think my little one will enjoy it.
