#blogbookaday: The Perfect Pillow

34646762.jpgSummary:  “In his strange new room on his big new bed, Brody tosses and turns, holding his stuffed dragon named Horst. His parents can’t help him fall asleep, so he has no choice to go out and search for a better bed. Is it a squirrel’s nest? A cloud? A rowboat on a pond? No, the moon is too bright, and the croaking frogs are too loud, so there’s nothing for it but to go back home and jump into his big new bed, where a friendly dragon makes a perfect pillow.

Young readers will enjoy floating along with Brody and Horst in this friendly nocturnal adventure with all the makings of a bedtime classic.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Brody can’t sleep in his big, new bed, so he goes off on an adventure with his stuffed dragon, Horst to find a better bed. He searches high and low, trying a squirrel nest, a cloud and a boat, until he finally travels back to his bedroom and falls asleep, with Horst as the perfect pillow. This is a sweet bedtime book that would work best at…. bedtime or even a pajama storytime at the library.

Personal Reaction: I thought this sweet little book was adorable in a very quiet and calm way. I loved how Brody decided to take matters into his own hands when he couldn’t fall asleep and was willing to try just about anything to find the perfect place to sleep. I also loved his relationship with his stuffy, Horst and how he completely trusted Horst to keep him safe and lead him to the best bed he could find. A perfect snuggly story to read at bed and a great story for those little ones trying a big bed for the first time.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
