#blogbookaday: Creepy Pair of Underwear!

26 Jan

31491773.jpgSummary:  “Jasper Rabbit is NOT a little bunny anymore. He’s not afraid of the dark, and he’s definitely not afraid of something as silly as underwear. But when the lights go out, suddenly his new big rabbit underwear glows in the dark. A ghoulish, greenish glow. If Jasper didn’t know any better he’d say his undies were a little, well, creepy. Jasper’s not scared obviously, he’s just done with creepy underwear. But after trying everything to get rid of them, they keep coming back!” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: Jasper’s back and after taking care of those creepy carrots, he’s ready to be a big rabbit and get a creepy pair of underwear. But, Jasper’s new underwear is just a little too creepy and he does everything he can to get rid of them. Fans of Jasper will recognize the familiar illustrations in grayscale with a glowing, ghoulish green instead of orange. And Aaron Reynold’s humor which will keep the story just light enough for little ones looking for a creepy story!

Personal Reaction: I love Creepy Carrots and a Creepy Pair of of Underwear! is no different! I love the creepy pair of underwear’s facial expressions as Jasper gets jumpy and realizes, he might not be quite as big as he thought. This is a great story to read aloud to elementary school age students – I read the first one to a group of summer camp kids and they loved how ambiguous the ending was as for this one… it’s just perfect! Plus, who can deny a book all about underwear!

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
