It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 1/21/18

22 Jan

I’m currently on a reading roll, I love how much time I’m devoting to reading and I feel better for doing so. I tend to feel a little more balanced, relaxed and comfortable when I’m reading regularly. This week I read:

  • A Rambler Steals Home by Carter Higgins
  • The Poet’s Dog by Patricia MacLachlan
  • The Unicorn Quest by Kamilla Benko

And I’m currently at the beginning of The Glass Town Game by Catherynne M. Valente ( a rather lengthy title), but one that I’m intrigued to dive deeper into. This week, I’ve got a HUGE pile of titles at my disposal because I’ll be participating in the 24in48 Readathon where the goal is to read for 24 hours over the weekend (from Saturday at 12:01am to Sunday at 11:59pm). So I’m stocking up on a variety of titles, genres, and formats to ensure that I can power through that much reading! Here’s my list:

  • The Art of the Swap by Kristine Asselin and Jen Malone (Netgalley ARC)
  • Every Shiny Thing by Cordelia Jensen and Laurie Morrison (Netgalley ARC)
  • Saint Philomene’s Infirmary for Magical Creatures by W. Stone Cotter (Netgalley ARC)
  • A Friendly Town That’s Almost Always by the Ocean! by Kir Fox and M. Shelley Coats (Netgalley ARC)
  • Beyond the Green by Sharlee Glenn (Netgalley ARC)
  • The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer (Playaway/audiobook)
  • The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket (Overdrive/audiobook)
  • Flying Lessons & Other Stories edited by Ellen Oh (short stories)
  • Louis Undercover by Fanny Britt (graphic novel)
  • Mighty Jack by Ben Hatke (graphic novel)
  • The Time Museum by Matthew Loux (graphic novel)
  • Princess Cora and the Crocodile by Laura Amy Schlitz (chapter book)
  • The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill (chapter book)
  • Tumble & Blue by Cassie Beasley (middle grade magical realism)
  • Three Pennies by Melanie Crowder (middle grade realistic fiction)
  • Shadow Weaver by MarcyKate Connolly (middle grade fantasy)
  • Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend (middle grade fantasy)
  • Beatrice Zinker, Upside Down Thinker by Shelley Johannes (middle grade realistic fiction)
  • Big and Little Questions (According to Wren Jo Byrd) by Julie Bowe (middle grade realistic fiction)
  • Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (YA fantasy)
  • The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson (YA realistic fiction)
  • The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo (YA short stories)
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber (YA fantasy)
  • Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway (YA realistic fiction)
  • Renegades by Marissa Meyer (YA science fiction)
  • When We Collided by Emery Lord (YA romance)
  • The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli (YA realistic fiction)

As I typed this list out, I realized that I may have gone a little overboard putting books on hold for myself. Well, I can’t argue that I don’t have anything to read this week!

I have a terrible habit of putting too many books on hold and then having them arrive all at once and never getting to read them all.
You do have some fabulous reads on your list today though!

I’m participating in the 24in48 readathon as well. Looks like we’ve both got quite ambitious lists! I think I have about 15 books on hold from the library currently. Good luck!!

Have you ever done it before? This is my first try and I’m super excited about that much reading!

I participated in the last one (I think it was in August or September of 2017?). It was a lot of fun, but it wasn’t a great weekend for me to have a readathon. So I’m going to really go hard at it this year and aim for a full 24 hours! I hope you have so much fun on your first round!
