Blogging From A to Z: Friendship

7 Apr

Letter F.jpgDuring the month of April, I’ll be participating in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge.  My theme for the month is Storytime Plans From A to Z.  Each plan will have eight stories as well as four songs, fingerplays or rhymes to match the theme!  As you can see, I’ll try and attribute where I found all of this fun (and often you can find it in multiple places).  My goal is to make storytime planning a little easier on myself in the future and to make storytime planning for other librarians easy as well!

Book List:

  1. Bear’s New Friend by Karma Wilson
  2. You Will Be My Friend! by Peter Brown
  3. Boy + Bot by Ame Dyckman
  4. Hooray for Hat! by Brian Won
  5. Be a Friend by Salina Yoon
  6. The Story of Fish & Snail by Deborah Freedman
  7. Katie Loves the Kittens by John Himmelman
  8. Ribbit! by Rodrigo Folgueiro

Songs & Rhymes:

Friends Song
Friends, friends 1, 2, 3 (count on fingers)
All my friends are here with me
You’re my friend, you’re my friend (point to each child)
You’re my friend, you’re my friend.
Friends, friends 1, 2, 3
All my friends are here with me!

Friend of Mine
(sing to “Mary Had a Little Lamb”)

Will you be a friend of mine, friend of mine, friend of mine?
Will you be a friend of mine and (insert action word) around with me?
(jump, clap, dance…)

If You’re Friendly and You Know It
If your friendly and you know it, clap your hands.
If your friendly and you know it, clap your hands.
If your friendly and you know it, and you really want to show it,
If your friendly and you know it, clap your hands!
additional verses: stomp your feet, give a hug, shout hooray, sit down

The More We Get Together
The more we get together
Together, together
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be
Cause your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be

The more we play together
Together, together
The more we play together
The happier we’ll be
Cause your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends
The more we play together
The happier we’ll be

The more we dance together
Together, together
The more we dance together
The happier we’ll be
Cause your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends
The more we dance together
The happier we’ll be

The more we get together
Together, together
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be
Cause your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be

Your blog is wonderful! I teach young children too, and I totally enjoy reading your suggestions. 😀 all the best with the rest of the A to Z Challenge!
