Toddler Storytime Theme: Socks & Shoes

Storytime was a handful yesterday.  I have 27 registered and with probably ten nametags not claimed at the end of storytime, I still had 29 kids (plus adults and babies) in the room!  The kids did really well, especially with that many – they were attentive, engaged, and excited.  The adults – were having a little more difficulty settling into storytime, chit-chatting with each other and otherwise being somewhat distracting.  But, for the size of the crowd, I was pleased with how it went.  The kids participated in 5 Little Leaves and The Acorn Song (which I sang a cappella) and the kids had a great time rocking out with Mr. Eric and the sound recording for Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes.  They had so much fun!

Early Literacy Tip: Children benefit from repeated rhymes and books; this is how they learn the rules of language.  Don’t be afraid to repeat a song or rhyme a few times in one sitting.
