Toddler Storytime – Summer Week #6

18222766This was my last storytime of the summer!  And I am excited to have a little bit of a break – focus my attention on finishing up all the summer programming and gearing up for the fall. This storytime went really well, the kids loved all the books, especially Hooray for Hat! I was excited to use The Family Book by Todd Parr just to show kids that families come in all shapes and sizes.  I was a little tentative to use this book, just because it shows so many differences, but none of the adults commented.  At the end, I told the kids that they should go and hug the person they came with because sometimes friends can be family too (which hopefully covered grandparents, aunts, uncles, nannies, babysitters, etc.)  And after six weeks of Zoom, Zoom, Zoom the kids know what to expect, can do the motions with me and have so much fun “blasting off!”

Early Literacy Tip: Just as sharing books about topics your toddler loves, it’s also important to share books about different concepts and ideas to teach your children new vocabulary!
