Toddler Storytime – Summer Week #4

51nkAPY8EML._SX258_BO1,204,203,200_This week by far, the kids liked Now I’m Big! by Karen Katz the best.  Every time the story repeated “Now I’m Big!” we reached our hands up to the sky and the kids loved participating in this way.  My non-fiction book for the week I Drive a Dump Truck did not go as well.  There was a lot of fidgeting and I don’t think I made it interactive enough for the kids to enjoy.  They did really like Jumping and Counting” by Jim Gill and had a lot of fun jumping and counting numbers.  Overall, a pretty good storytime!
Opening: “Put Your Hands Up In the Air”
Puppet Meet & Greet: Meet Woolly (monkey puppet)
ASL Sign: Truck – the truck sign is like driving a truck with a big steering wheel
Early Literacy Tip: Extension activities are great ways to reinforce what you’re reading at home…  The easiest extension activity – drawing a picture about the story!  If your child’s drawing looks like scribbles, remember this is the first step in writing letters!  Ask your child to explain their picture and write down what they say.
