Toddler Storytime – Summer Week #2

TALL_PC_UK.01736It was one of those days with a HUGE crowd for storytime, most had registered while some families just popped in at the last moment.  All was going well until a child threw up on the stairs of our storytime room (we have stadium style rows).  Being that this was the first time this has ever happened in over seven years of doing storytime, I quickly ran out of the room asked another staff member to help the clean up and I kept the show going.  Thankfully, it wasn’t too bad, but it made for a very interesting storytime.  The kids really responded to Tall  by Jez Alborough and had a lot of fun even with all the craziness!
Opening: “Put Your Hands Up In the Air”
Puppet Meet & Greet: Meet Woolly (monkey puppet)
ASL Sign: Rocket – using “r” hand and shoot off into space
Early Literacy Tip: Counting is an important skill for school, but counting backwards is important too!  Counting begins as memorization, but by teaching counting both forward and backward teaches kids that it’s more than that.  Try practicing counting backwards at home (Rocketships taking off work really well)!
