“Start a Revolution"

This morning I had the pleasure of hearing Ben Bizzle speak at a local library about library marketing and the importance of an online presence.  Ben was a 2013 Mover & Shaker in Library Journal and has created an online presence for the Craighead County Jonesboro Library that is both highly professional and easy to use!
In his library, they’ve done marketing on billboards, on Facebook, printed coasters to use at locals restaurants and bars, and really pushed their library into the minds of their community.
Some of the tips I plan on bringing back to my library include not only providing the community with information on our Facebook page, but to also have some fun and Ben Bizzle’s company, Library Market is a great place to find fun memes and Interent pictures to post on our Facebook page. He also suggested that we invest in a domain name for our website because right now,  our website in under the township’s site making it difficult to do a lot of customization. And although we have amazing patrons, we need to reach out to other people in the community through marketing, but also by providing programs they are interested in.
I’m always looking for new ways to “sell” our library and Ben Bizzle’s book, Start a Revolution: Stop Acting Like a Library is an easy to read guide to online and traditional marketing tools and tricks to get you library into the community.
