Story Time Theme: Kevin Henkes

16 Oct

This week I focused on books written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes.  And for some reason I had a lot of interest checking out the books after story time, Henkes books, I think, might work better in a one-on-one setting as many of his books are quiet books that can invoke a lot of conversation, but which can be difficult with a large group.  I was also able to educate parents on the Caldecott Medal which Henkes one with his illustrations in Kitten’s First Full Moon.  Either way, the kids enjoyed listening and participating in both story times and I’m excited for next week’s author – Paul Schmid!
