Storytime Theme: Letter R
This has been one of the easiest letters to create a lesson plan for! There are so many great letter R words for kids and there are plenty of choices when it comes to books and activities to extend learning. There are so many directions you can go with this letter – focusing on animals, or STEM topics, or even things like rice! I loved bringing all these great books together, but you could also focus on rhyming books, or royalty, or even focus on books about reading.
With only eight letters left in the alphabet, please make sure you go back through and review the beginning of the alphabet because this can help you with half a year’s worth of planning when it comes to storytime. And if you’re considering trying out themeless storytimes, the letters are a great bridge between theme and no theme. You have an overarching theme, but your books don’t really have the same theme across them and it can still work really well for your storytime families!
