Storytime Theme: Letter G

We’re continuing to plug away with the alphabet, one letter at a time, and today it’s all about the letter G! With letters that correlate to a lot of animals and a color, there are endless options for a Letter G lesson plan.

Don’t hesitate to reach beyond the typical words to find things that you might not think about right away. The one story is called Firefly Galaxy, so while it’s not specifically about a galaxy or stars in the sky, it uses the word galaxy to create a sense of feeling and you can talk about that in storytime. “What do fireflies remind you of?” “That’s right, stars! Stars sometimes look like they are sparkling and twinkling like fireflies do. A group of stars is called a galaxy. Let’s read this next book called Firefly Galaxy!”

What I’m really loving about creating these lesson plans that focus on letters is that you can create a much broader theme for your storytime. So, if you’re not ready to go completely “theme-less”, this is a great way to pull together a lot of different books, rhymes, and songs that still have a loose theme, but one that you have a lot more flexibility with.
