Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish People I’d Like to Meet

I’ve been really lucky to meet a lot of amazing authors at conferences across the country. I also “know” a lot of authors, illustrators, and other bookish people on social media. But, for today’s Top Ten Tuesday post, I pulled together a list of people I’d love to meet and spend time with!

Bookish People I’d Like to Meet

  • Alan Gratz – I love Alan Gratz’s books! He has a way of bringing to life historical events in a very real and appropriate way for middle grade readers. His most recently published novel, Two Degrees, is about climate change and I can’t wait to read it.
  • Chris Baron – I love novels in verse and Chris has been so kind on social media, I’d love to meet him in person some day! His newest novel, The Gray, will be available in June 2023.
  • Dusti Bowling – Dusti Bowling’s books are ones I’ll always pick up when I see them. I love her characters, the way she incorporates her love of the desert into her books, and the humor she weaves through her stories is just the right amount.
  • Jarrett Lerner – Jarrett Lerner is one of the kindest authors out there! He has so many free resources on his website available for kids. Plus, he donates a ton of money to amazing organizations from his shop of adorable bookish tees.
  • Kate DiCamillo – I love every one of Kate’s books and although I do have a book autographed by her, I haven’t had a chance to meet her yet.
  • Kathie MacIsaac – Kathie and I are friends on social media, but we’ve never gotten a chance to meet in person! I’d love to sit down and have dinner together! Kathie is a children’s librarian and an author.
  • Natalie Lloyd – I really like Natalie Lloyd’s way of adding a touch of magic to her books. She is definitely an author I’d love to meet someday! Her most recent title, Hummingbird, was just released last year and features a character with osteogenesis imperfecta, a disease that Natalie Lloyd has herself.
  • Peter H. Reynolds – I am lucky enough to own my very own dot drawn by Peter H. Reynolds, but he’s another author I’ve never gotten a chance to meet. The Dot is so sweet and a really great story that I absolutely love!
  • Salina Yoon – Penguin and Pinecone is an adorable story that I absolutely love. I would love to have an illustration drawn by Salina someday (maybe of an octopus!)
  • Wendy McLeod MacKnight – I met Wendy on social media after gushing about her novel, The Frame-Up. She actually invited me to tour the museum, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, with her – adn honestly how cool would that be?!?!?

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
