It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 12/24/18
Last Week
Although it’s been a busy week before Christmas, I was able to finish a couple of titles – The Simple Art of Flying by Cory Leonardo and It Wasn’t Me by Dana Alison Levy.
The Simple Art of Flying was a great story written from three different perspectives – A young boy dreaming of becoming a doctor, an elderly woman who is looking for someone to make her apartment feel a little more lived in, and an African grey parrot who wants to hold on to his dream no matter. I read this as an ARC from
It Wasn’t Me is the story of an act of vandalism and how six kids end up in a “justice circle” during school vacation (all five suspects and the victim). Although it takes a little time, the students begin to realize they’ve judged each other without actually knowing each other. Pair this with Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson for two titles about the importance of getting to know someone before making a snap decision about them.
I also squeezed in an audiobook in the car on the way to my parent’s home for the holiday. Hitting the Books the last one in the Library Lover’s Mysteries series that’s available right now.
Reading List for Week of
This week will be a little crazy with Christmas, traveling and celebrating, but I’m hoping to have a little quiet time to get some reading done too! I’ve still got Ruby In the Sky by Jeanne Zulick Ferruolo and my hold finally came in for Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, so I’m excited to dive into that one!
