#blogbookaday: The Big Bed
Summary: “From the creator of the Honest Toddler blog, The Big Bed is a humorous picture book about a girl who doesn’t want to sleep in her little bed, so she presents her dad with his own bed―a camping cot!―in order to move herself into her parents’ big bed in his place. A twist on the classic parental struggle of not letting kids sleep in their bed.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: A little girl gives her dad the best argument for sleeping on a camping cot so that she and mommy can sleep in the big bed together. Her adorable explanations and complete seriousness of the topic is giggle inducing and many a young child will recognize their own bedtime insecurities and might feel a little better about sharing them with mom and dad, and maybe not sharing the big bed.
Personal Reaction: I loved this little girl’s tenacity for taking her dad’s spot on the big bed and trying everything in her power to convince her father that this is the best choice for everyone! She wants to make sure Daddy gets a “restful night’s slumber to prepare for a day of text messaging and telling me ‘no.'” This is a fun, bedtime story that will definitely make you giggle!

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
