Review: If you’ve ever had the chance to explore the New York Public Library, you know how special the building feels – filled with knowledge and watched over by two lion statues named Patience and Fortitude.
As soon as I opened this book, I knew that Stevie felt the same thing about this library as I do – the illustrations are filled with the soft glow of early dawn and recognizable scenes of the Library. She was also able to animate these regal, stone statues in a way that makes me want to cuddle up with them in the Children’s Department and read stories all day long.
Josh Funk is an absolute whiz with rhyming and you can tell when you read a book where the author is able to rhyme labyrinth with plinth – in a children’s book! There is nothing more awful than when you’re in the middle of a read aloud and stumble through a poorly placed rhyme. I absolutely loved this story of two friends who stand guard over the Library – one a little more adventurous, the other a lover of safety and stories, but best friends through it all!

Twitter Booktalk (280ish characters or less): A beautiful story of Patience and Fortitude, the noble lion statues that stand guard and welcome guests to the New York Public Library.
