Minecraft Books for Kids

The brand new Minecraft movie is getting released tomorrow! And I know that Minecraft is hugely popular in my library among kids, so I thought it was the perfect time to share some Minecraft stories and reference books for all the Minecraft fans out there. Sometimes, kids may be reluctant readers who prefer to spend time playing video games, but with these books, kids can get the best of both worlds reading about their favorite game.

Most of the books on this list are geared toward a middle grade audience (think ages 8-12), but you’ll always find picture books and easy readers for a younger audience and fans of any age would probably appreciate a book like The World of Minecraft. There are dozens of Minecraft books in the world, but this is a great starting place for readers to get started. If you have a favorite title that isn’t mentioned below, please share it in the comments so other Minecraft fans can find it!

The top priority is finding food. The next is not becoming food. Because there are others out there on the island . . . like the horde of zombies that appears after nightfall. Crafting a way out of this mess is a challenge like no other. Who could build a home while running from exploding creepers, armed skeletons, and an unstoppable tide of hot lava? Especially with no help except for a few makeshift tools and sage advice from an unlikely friend: a cow.

In this world, the rules don’t always make sense, but courage and creativity go a long way. There are forests to explore, hidden underground tunnels to loot, and undead mobs to defeat. Only then will the secrets of the island be revealed.
