Storytime Theme: Summer
Storytime lesson plans don’t need to be complicated! They need to be developmentally appropriate for the age group, but rather than trying to think up elaborate themes with limited books to support it, why not try something easy? A seasonal storytime theme is great because there are so many different ways to approach it. You can focus on the natural aspect – showing how the world around us looks during the season for a perfect (and simple) STEM storytime! Or share some of the iconic ideas of the season like vacation, spending time at the beach, swimming, etc.
You can even create an entire series around one season focusing on different aspects each week! Storytime lesson planning is important, don’t get me wrong. But, it doesn’t have to be difficult and taking a simple concept like the seasons and using it at a jumping off point is a perfect example of this!
