Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals for 2025
In order to work on my bookish goals for 2025, I thought it might be smart to look back at my goals for 2024. And not surprising after the year that I had, I didn’t accomplish as much as I wanted to in terms of these goals. I was really proud of myself when keeping my word of the year in mind, but the goals? Not so much.
So, for this year, I’m keeping my goals a little more on the brief side. I’m hoping that with only a handful of goals, I can make some really great progress on them! I’ve also selected a word of the year as as I find I’m much better at keeping this in mind than setting resolutions that I inevitably drop by February whether it’s inadvertent or not.
And since I’m not sure how much you know about me, reader, I notoriously don’t include a “read X number of books” as a goal each year. I find the pressure of trying to hit a specific target is more stress than it’s worth. I want to pick and choose books that catch my eye, I want to read books that entertain, engage, and teach me something. But, I don’t want to have to worry about how many books I’ve read each year. So, with that being said, here are just five bookish goals for 2025.
Bookish Goals for 2025
Log reading for the year on The Storygraph
I just created an account on The Storygraph after seeing it on Instagram and I’m excited by the way it categorizes and reports on my reading for the year. I’m not sure how helpful it will be, but I’m a sucker for data, graphs, plot points, and charts! And as a Goodreads user, it was fairly simple to import my Goodreads data into The Storygraph, which was pretty cool!
Clear out some of my TBR books I own
This exact same goal was on my list last year – I really need to read some of the TBR books that I actually own! They’re just sitting on the shelf waiting for me! I think my brain automatically thinks, well, they’ll be there for whenever and I get excited by the bright, new, shiny books at work and then they continue to sit. This year, I’d like to at least make a small dent in reading them!
Declutter my bookshelves
Which leads me to my next bookish goal, decluttering my bookshelves. Even with all the bookshelves inhabiting my house, I’m still running out of space. My goal is to clear out some of the books on these shelves and either gift them to friends or donate them to a good cause, allowing me additioanl space for more books to be left on my TBR pile for far too long!
Try more audiobooks
Since this past summer when I started focusing on trying to get out and get fresh air while also getting some steps in, I’ve realized that listening to audiobooks keeps me entertained while out walking, so this year, I’m hoping to add more audiobooks to my reading goals. Now that I figured out how to increase the speed of listening on Libby, I can get through them a little faster, which has always been my issue previously. I read a lot faster than the typical audiobook narrator reads, so this ability to increase the speed is game changing for me!
Choose reading over scrolling social media
This one is going to be tricky – I want to choose to read over scrolling on my phone. Hopefully, by keeping both physical books and digital titles available, I can easily pick up a book, rather than heading to Instagram for more time than I care to admit!
Did you set any reading goals for the new year?
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I need to read more and scroll social media less, too.

I enjoy the graphs that are produced on Storygraph. It’s interesting to see the breakdwon by genre, format etc.

Listening to audiobooks makes exercise much more bearable for me! It also helps with housework and driving, which I also find tedious. I listen to mine on 1.25 speed, but that’s all the faster I can handle. Good luck with all of your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Oh, reading over scrolling is such a great goal. Let it be so!

Several of your goals are very relatable! I’ve been gravitating more towards The Storygraph lately and I enjoy it over Goodreads. Especially the montly wrap up graphics are very useful!
