Storytime Theme: Donuts

Mmmmm! Donuts are definitely a popular breakfast/dessert option these days. In fact, my brother and his wife chose to have donuts at their wedding instead of a traditional wedding cake, which definitely suited them and made for some really fun memories.

This is a delicious themed storytime, especially if you happen to serve a little snack with your storytime. It would be perfect for a morning program and would be a great hit among the kids. In fact, my library has partnered with our local Dunkin’ Donuts and they’ve graciously supplied us with donuts and toppings for kids to decorate their very own donut. And let me tell you, it was a pretty amazing sight! The whole place smelled like sugar and was quite sticky, but the kids loved it!

Besides the opportunity for a fun snack, this storytime has some absolutely adorable characters, some catchy tunes, and a couple of crafts and activities that are sure to make kids hungry! Whether you gear this for toddlers or preschoolers or age it up a bit for an elementary school age crowd, I have a feeling that a storytime theme based on sugar is going to be a pretty big hit.
