Storytime Theme: Holes
I started this lesson plan with a specific idea of how I wanted it to look and then it went in a completely different direction. My original goal was to create a storytime lesson plan all about holes as in the things you dig in the backyard or on the beach like Sam & Dave Dig a Hole by Mac Barnett and illustrated by Jon Klassen. But, I soon realized it was a little difficult to find picture books about holes!
So, I switched my focus and decided to highlight books with cut-out holes in them instead! And, unsurprisingly, I found a lot more options that I did looking for books about actual holes. This is a fun and quite possibly a very interactive storytime that might work better with a smaller crowd as I can see kids get really excited to pour over these pages with all the little cutouts. Whether you’re sending away big green monsters or looking for a lost kitty, these are must-read, peek-a-boo books!
