Storytime Theme: Painting
While I’ve done an art themed storytime lesson plan, I haven’t expanded beyond just the general theme. So, for today, I’m focusing solely on painting. Obviously, the activities are all paint-based. And there are a number of different directions you can go in – different types of paint, paintbrushes, and even paper/canvas. You could also take this storytime into a STEM theme with color mixing theory or go a completely different route and share picture book biographies about famous painters for an art history focus.
Whatever direction you go in, embrace the mess of paint and enjoy yourself! Because when you’re having fun, the kids will too! And one of my all-time favorite storytime books is in this list – I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More and it gets the best reaction if you can sing the story (check out the song, here!).
