2024 Blogging A to Z Challenge: Outdoor

This was probably one of the easiest lists to pull together because there are so many adventure titles that just inherently take place outdoors as survival stories. I also included some that aren’t quite as intense and take place at summer camp as well.

And that’s why I like sharing books so much, because there’s something out there for everyone! Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to find that just right book for a reader, but it’s out there, and these 26 book lists can be a great place to start searching for that just right book. If you’re having trouble finding that just right book, ask for help! Find a friend, librarian, or independent bookseller to get suggestions that will work for the reader in your life! Across the Desert by Dusti Bowling

Alone in the Woods by Rebecca Behrens

Crocodile Rescue by Melissa Cristina Márquez

The status of the show is in jeopardy, and Adrianna’s parents want her back behind the scenes, or maybe even back at home.

Adrianna is determined to prove herself, and save the show-whatever it takes. Even if that means confronting the legendary Mega Croc of Cuba that’s rumored to inhabit the murky waters around their base camp.

Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar

They got lost.

Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo

A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements

The fifth-grade Week in the Woods is a beloved tradition of Hardy Elementary, where Mark Chelmsley (the Fourth) is pretty much killing time before his parents send him off to an exclusive prep school. But then Mark realizes the Week might be a chance to prove to Mr. Maxwell that he’s not just another of the slacker rich kids the teacher can’t stand.

2024 is my ninth year participating in the Blogging A to Z Challenge. This year, I chose as my theme: Adventurous Readers with a focus on providing book lists focused on all types of adventures for readers from birth to teens. Each letter of the alphabet will focus on different sub-genres or age groups and will provide twelve titles of books. This theme coincides well with the summer reading theme for many libraries which is “Adventure Begins at Your Library” and no matter what type of books the kids in your life like, there is sure to be something they’ll find interesting over the course of the month.
