12 Fantasy Chapter Book Series

The fantasy genre is one of the most popular in my library and I know kids love the magical setting for this genre at all ages. Today, I want to share some really great chapter book series that fit squarely into the fantasy genre. Many of these books include imaginary creatures like dragons, fairies, talking animals and more. They often also include other magical elements as well.

These early chapter books are great options for kids who have successfully navigated the easy reader titles, but aren’t quite ready for 200+ pages of middle grade titles that have limited illustrations and are fairly text-heavy. Chapter books are great because there is a lot of white space with larger font and more space between lines to make them not quite as intimidating to newly independent readers. They also are often supported by a lot of illustrations to help break up that text even more. And chapter books are often set up as series which make them a great choice for readers who find something they love so they have even more great books to choose from!
