Storytime Theme: Peacocks
Peacocks are my second favorite bird (my favorite is flamingoes). I just absolutely love the expansive tail feathers with all the beautiful jewel tones. So, inspired by my second-favorite bird, I decided to create a lesson plan for a peacock-themed storytime. Not surprising, there aren’t as many peacock books out there as you’d want. You will see a few titles on this list that also bring in more animals than just peacocks, but they’re there!
Like picture books, there aren’t too many kids songs about peacocks either. So, while I did find one, I stretched the theme a little furthe to find a few other cute songs to work with this theme. Thankfully, the crafts were a lot easier than the other parts of this lesson plan and I found some absolutely adorable crafts that would work well with a wide variety of age groups. This lesson plan was definitely more work than most, but come on, how many storytimes focus on something as unique as peacocks?!?!
