Literacious Etsy Shop Now LIVE
It’s been a long time coming, but the Literacious Etsy Shop is now live! I wanted to take a little time to share what I’m offering, why I decided this is my next chapter for Literacious, and how excited I am to send this new idea out into the world!

Why?
As a blogger of 12 years, I’ve been looking for something new to do to keep my excitement high for blogging. I really do enjoy blogging, but post COVID, it’s been hard to keep up with all the work, while working full-time and trying to maintain some sort of work-life balance. So, this winter I started toying with the idea of creating a reading journal. I was visiting a local bookstore to see what was already available and they didn’t really have what I was thinking about in my head. I’ve since done research at Barnes & Noble and online as well, and while there are some reading journals geared toward kids, there were far fewer than I was expecting.
I went into this project hoping to create a reading journal with 20ish pages. This project ended with 103 pages and loved every moment of creating this bundle. I was inspired by the journals I already found, thought about what kids might like to do, and had a couple of amazing helpers do some testing for me and give me some really great feedback.
I want to thank G. and E. for helping me really polish the reading journal to what it is today. They tested my reading journal draft way back in June and we spent a couple of hours really going page by page. They let me know what they loved and let me know what I needed to change and I really, truly think they made this reading journal such a better product for you! So, I’m sending out a HUGE thank you to both G. and E. for all their help!
What?
My first foray into offering printables on Etsy is a reading journal for kids. This reading journal is customizable with 103 pages that kids can use to track their books and their time, set reading goals, participate in challenges, and so much more!
My goal in creating this reading journal was for kids to have fun reading, but it was also to provide some opportunities for learning as well. There’s a whole section of the journal dedicated to setting reading goals explaining why goal setting is important and how to do it well. There’s also an entire section called “reference tools” where kids can get some suggestions on reading, they can also learn more about genres, formats, and how to ask for book suggestions to find titles they love!
But, it’s not all about learning! There are also some really fun parts of this journal as well! A whole section called “get creative” provides kids with journal and drawing prompts, bookmarks to decorate, and comic strips to design. There are also 13 different challenges that kids can do – from genres to book cover colors, from the alphabet to seasonal bingo cards, I wanted to create something that kids would find engaging and entertaining.
What I love the most is that when you purchase this reading journal bundle, you’ll receive all 103 pages in a zip file in three different size formats – letter, A4, and A5. At this time you can choose to print out all the pages, or you can pick and choose which pages work best for your reader. You can also print multiple copies of the same pages if so desired.
Gift Ideas
And if you’re looking for a great gift for birthdays or holidays, I encourage you to purchase the reading journal bundle, but also pick up a three-ring binder and some fun pens (gel pens are super fun to use!). You can go all out and get the binder dividers to allow kids to create their own categories too. Put the reading journal right into the binder and wrap the binder and pens for a special personal gift for the young reader in your life. Who?
This reading journal was created with middle grade readers in mind. Middle grade readers are typically those kids in the 8-12 year age group. I’m hoping that it’s a perfect resource not only for your avid bookworms but also for kids who may be a little more hesitant or reluctant when it comes to their reading habits.
The activities and worksheets found in the reading journal require kids to be comfortable with writing skills and be able to write on worksheets with a smaller area rather than the large spaces and lines you would find for younger students.
Is that to say that younger (or even older) students wouldn’t find something they enjoy or be able to find pages within this journal that would resonate with them? Absolutely not! Kids that are 5, 6, and 7 are sure to find parts of this reading journal that will work really well for them. My goal in the next six months or so is to create a junior reading journal that’s better suited for the younger age group!
