Top Ten Tuesday: Titles with Animals In Them

Animal-focused books aren’t necessarily what I would pick up as my first choice. Partially, because I hate books with dogs in them because inevitably something happens to the dog. But, I’m more inclined to a realistic fiction title than something from an animal perspective.

But I did learn a new term while researching this theme. Animal Xenofiction or books from the perspective of animals! I had never heard this term before, but I’m so excited to add it to my vocabulary! There are other types of xenofiction, usually having to do with the story being written from the perspective of aliens and other science fiction life forms.

This book list of animal xenofiction includes classics like Charlotte’s Web, modern classics like The One and Only Ivan, and other off-the-wall titles like Nuts to You. Many of these make amazing read alouds and would work really well in a classroom or family setting.
