2023 Blogging A to Z: Daredevil

I am by no means a daredevil, I’ve always been a cautious person – not a fan of roller coasters or haunted houses, it’s just not who I am. I’ve started rock climbing at a local gym a little over a year ago. And while I don’t necessarily see it as a “daring” activity, a lot of people seem to think it is when I mention it to them.

Unlike me, there are lots of kids out there who thrive on trying new and exciting things, and who thrive on adventure and action. This is the book list for them. These are action and adventure novels that keep the pace quick and the pages turning. Whether a survival story or spy adventure, daredevils will most likely see themselves in some of these characters and won’t want to put them down!

City Spies by James Ponti

The Daredevils by Rob Buyea

Loretta and her twin brother, Waylon, are headed to middle school. Loretta has always been quick with her fists and her wits. Since Waylon is on the small side, Loretta doesn’t let anyone mess with him. But now she worries he won’t survive without her by his side. Her secret plan: bulk him up with muscle over the summer. Rob Buyea’s spirited dual narrative drives this funny, touching brother-sister story, where even the best-laid plans sometimes backfire and feelings may get bruised, but family and friends always count. Adrianna is determined to prove herself, and save the show-whatever it takes. Even if that means confronting the legendary Mega Croc of Cuba that’s rumored to inhabit the murky waters around their base camp.

This is my eighth year participating in the Blogging A to Z Challenge! And this year my theme is Books for Every Reader. My plan is to take and adjective for each letter of the alphabet and create a short book list for that “type” of reader. I’ll be focusing on middle grade novels, but you’ll also see some chapter books, YA titles, and nonfiction on the lists too. So whether you have a sporty kid or a theatre kid or just the type of kid that is a friend to everyone, you’ll find a list of books that I hope they love!
