Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Bookstores OR Bookstores I’d Love to Visit
I love visiting bookstores, exploring the shelves, looking for my favorites, and discovering new titles. I don’t have a ton of shelf space, so I don’t always buy books for myself. But, I do try to buy books as presents from independent bookstores and if I can’t get to one quickly, I do try to buy books from bookshop.org which supports independent bookstores!
Favorite Bookstores
Children’s Book World – Haverford, PA
This is my closest children’s bookstore in the area and I absolutely love this cozy little bookstore! They host amazing authors, have a wonderful staff, and have a wonderful collection of titles.
Reads & Company – Phoenixville, PA
A new-ish bookstore in our area, this one has a nice mix of adult and children’s materials and is active on social media!
Browseabout Books – Rehoboth Beach, DE
I discovered this amazing bookstore while on vacation – it’s absolutely massive inside with a ton of books, but also bookish merchandise, toys, games, and puzzles.
Parnassus Books – Nashville, TN
While I was in Nashville for a conference, I got a chance to visit Parnassus Books, co-owned by Ann Patchett. This is such a fun bookstore to explore and has lots of adorable nooks and crannies for kiddos.
Tattered Cover – Denver, CO
I visited this store while I was at a conference as well. I didn’t get to spend much time as I was on my way to the airport, but I always love browsing independent bookstores whenever I get the chance!
Bookstores I’d Love to Visit
I’ve heard amazing things about all of these bookstores and can’t wait until I can visit all of them!
- Powell’s City of Books – Portland, OR
- Red Balloon Bookshop – St. Paul, MN
- Oblong Books – Rhinebeck, NY
- Blue Willow Bookshop – Houston, TX
- Read with Me – Raleigh, NC
The Artsy Reader Girl currently hosts Top Ten Tuesday, an original feature created by The Broke and the Bookish.

I hope you get to visit the rest of your bookstores on your list someday. Visiting bookstores is such a fun thing to do when you’re in a new city.

I’ve seen Powells on so many people’s lists today, it’s made me really curious! Sadly, it would be a very long way for me to get there, living in the UK, but maybe next time I eventually make it over to the US.

I grew up near Portland, so I’ve been to Powell’s several times. Although I’ve visited Denver a few times, I’ve never been to The Tattered Cover. I need to go!
Happy TTT!

I would love to visit Tattered Cover. And I can confirm that Powell’s is everything anyone could hope it would be.
