Newer Middle Grade Titles for 90s Kids
I was the kid whose nose was buried in a book, literally, all the time. I took a book with me absolutely everywhere. Waiting for my turn at piano lessons, yep I had a book. Heading to a soccer game for what felt like every Sunday of my childhood, you bet I had a book.
In my small town, our little library only allowed us to check out five children’s books at a time. I agonized over my choices. I always tried my best to choose the books that I would enjoy the most and would last long enough before we came back. Thankfully the library was only a few blocks down the street. So I was a frequent visitor swapping out books on a regular basis.
I thought it might be fun to travel back to the 90s when I was growing up. And pair some of the most popular books of the time with more recent titles. It’s so funny to me when I overhear parents trying to convince their kids to read a book they loved from their childhood. For kids, these books are ancient, but maybe these suggestions can open their eyes to amazing, albeit, older books as well!
