Storytime Theme: Moose
When I decided to create a storytime theme around moose, I totally forgot that I had recently created a moose book list just a few months ago! So, this list includes even more moose books for my storytime theme: moose! Make sure to check both lists for lots of great books.
These massive animals intrigue me, probably because they’re not native to Pennsylvania and they’re just SO big! They can eat something like 70 pounds of food in a single day! They’re adaptable to very cold temperatures, but also love to go swimming in the summer. I just think they’re kind of cool! And what I love is that you can include nonfiction text as part of your storytime theme or reading at home. Nonfiction books for little ones can be read cover to cover, but you might actually find it easier to share just a few facts at a time, flipping through the book to find things that interest your family. That’s why I’ve included a few nonfiction titles here as well.
Today I want to share some books about moose, some great fingerplays and songs, and a few activities as well. Whether you’re a children’s librarian looking for some inspiration, a preschool teacher on the hunt for some new ideas for a lesson plan, or a family just looking for some great books and activities, you’ll definitely find something here that will inspire you!
