World Children’s Day
Today is World Children’s Day, a day that was first established by the United Nations in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day. It is a day “to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare”. This year’s theme is A Better Future for Every Child.
And honestly, that feels so overwhelming right now. We’re almost two years into a global pandemic, climate change is affecting every corner of the world, and you can feel the racial tension crackling throughout the U.S. And if the adults of the world can’t (or won’t) fix some of these issues, it comes down to the kids. Children and teens demanding better, demanding more.
Look to individuals like Malala Yousafzai, the teens of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School, Great Thunberg, and others who are taking matters into their own hands and searching for a better future for every child. Today I’m sharing just a handful of books about inspiring kids, inspiring words, and inspiring actions!
