Top Ten Tuesday: Plot Twists & Unreliable Narrators
With a number of other book lists on my blog featuring all things Halloween, I decided to take a different route today! Plus, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge scaredy-cat, so my knowledge of scary Halloween-y books is at a minimum. I’ve got lists about ghosts, witches, bats, monsters, and general Halloween picture books.
I started off searching for middle grade titles with unexpected plot twists, which lead me down the rabbit hole that also include unreliable narrators. I decided that I’d expand my search to picture books and YA novels. In both age groups, there are some really great books that include both plot twists and unreliable narrators. Do any of these books have anything to do with Halloween? Not at all, but they’re great stories!

What a good idea for a TTT post! There’s something interesting about unreliable narrators for sure.

I’m not a big fan of unreliable narrators. I get why authors use them, but it just feels like a cheat-y way to achieve a twist ending to me.
Happy TTT!

Sadie is a great novel, definitely one that has stuck with me. I love unreliable narrators, it makes the reading experience feel unpredictable.

I’m waiting to get my hold from the library for Sadie. Code Name Verity almost broke my heart at the end.
