Top Ten Tuesday: Online Resources for Book Lovers
I love learning about resources that I don’t know about, especially when it comes to reading. I have a few tried and true favorites that I use on a regular basis when it comes to my reading life, my blog posts, and at work in the library. My posts focus mainly on children’s literature, but you might find a few resources for “big” readers too!
Online Resources for Book Lovers
- Book Page
You might be familiar with this little free magazine from your local library. Libraries purchase copies to give to their patrons for free, but did you know that you can also view the content online for free? Learn about upcoming new releases, book lists for each month, and author interview! - Bookroo
This is a robust resource with A LOT of booklists, but also a book platform similar to Goodread to track reading. What’s great is that a family can have individual readers all tracking under the same family group! - Brightly
This is a website created by Penguin Random House that highlights children’s books from all different publishers. It’s got some really great articles, book suggestions, and a family book club with titles for all ages of readers around a specific theme! - Children’s Book Council
The Children’s Book Council works with publishers and librarians to get books into the hands of readers. I don’t think that enough people know about the great work this organization does. I’m a little biased as I worked as an ALA intern with them for a few years. - Cybils Book Awards
A book award that focuses both on literary merit and reader popularity. There are a bunch of different categories and it can be a really helpful tool to find great books for kids. - Diverse Book Finder
This is an awesome tool to use when you’re looking for specific picture book titles about characters that are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC). I’d love to see this tool expand to include other forms of diversity as well! - IndieBound
I love checking out this resource for upcoming and recently released kids books. Plus, with a focus on supporting independent bookstores, this is a great tool for locating indies in your neighborhood and supporting local businesses. - Jbrary
I love these two librarians from Canada! They have created an amazing storytime resource that I go back to time and again for great book suggestions and tons of rhymes, songs, and fingerplays! My nephew just turned 6 and I taught him the “Banana song” when he was just a year old and it’s been a favorite since. - MG Book Village
If you’re lookign for a resource that is all things middle grade – this is one the best out there. With an upcoming release calendar, lots of great author interviews, and created by an amazing team, this is another regular tool tha tI use! Plus, you’ve got to check out #mgbooktober on social media for awesome middle grade prompts for sharing some amazing books. - Reading Middle Grade
Another amazing middle grade resource with tons of extensive book list about all sorts of great topics and themes. Afoma is also a really sweet online presence that I’ve got a chance to connect with.
These are only a few of the amazing bloggers, organizations, and companies that are creating great content for book lovers! I can’t wait to peruse everyone else’s lists today and add some new resources to my toolkit!

I find that I don’t care about lists as much as I care about reviews. Sadly, there are so few blogs any more. Everyone has moved to Twitter, where there is so little actual information!
