It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 9/27/2021

What I Read

I finished up Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore and read Fix Her Up by Tess Bailey and I might be getting to end of my romance reading phase. I also re-read The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. I like that I don’t have to put a lot of thought into reading these fun escapist titles. But, I think I’m ready to dive back into some middle grade books in the next week or so!

I worked a lot of extra hours and was trying to keep up with blog posts which lead to less reading time and I didn’t even get a chance to grab anything from work, which was my original plan!

What I’m Planning to Read

This week’s plan is to really get back in to middle grade titles. There are a TON of titles that have been published during September and I am desperately behind. Although, I am super excited because I heard Brian Selznick speak on Friday night (virtually) and was able to order a copy of his book, Kaleidoscope. It sounds like a little bit of a departure from his previous books and I’m really excited to see where it goes.

I also virtually attended the Princeton Book Jam with children’s and YA authors on Saturday. And hearing authors talk about their own books and other books they love means I’m adding to my TBR too. But, for now, I’m really going to try and grab Saadia Faruqi’s most recent title Yusuf Azeem Is Not a Hero. I’m also hoping to read One Kid’s Trash by Jamie Sumner. I’ve enjoyed her other middle grade titles, so I’ve got high hopes for this one too! I also want to read Padma Venkatraman’s newest title Born Behind Bars. Check my Fall TBR list for some other great titles!
