6 Books for Family Stargazing

Of course, I missed posting this before the best night to see the Perseid Meteor Shower. Granted, we had horrible thunderstorms last night, so I wouldn’t have been able to see anything anyway! But, that being said, the night sky is full of constellations and meteor showers and if you can plan better than I can, you can definitely take advantage as a family.

My family did a lot of camping growing up. With six people and a dog, it was probably (a lot) more work on my parents’ part, but more economical. We had a small pop-up camper that we dragged all over the country during the summer. One year, we met up with friends in the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, and yes, it’s actually called that. The campground had a clearing with a big screen where they showed movies. But, on this night, we dragged our blankets and got as comfortable as you can be on a thin wooden bench and watched the sky. I have never seen so many shooting stars in my life. It was breathtaking! So, if you’re able, try to find a place near home where light pollution is at a minimum and go stargazing or watch a meteor shower at least once in your life – it’s amazing!
