It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 7/26/2021
What I Read
It was an insanely busy week trying to finish up the bathroom renovation before some family came to visit. Unfortunately after trying three different drain pipes on our brand new vanity, we realized that the vanity top drain is not level causing it to leak. We were hoping it was a “user error” situation. But my cousin is a plumber and couldn’t get it to work either. Which means having to return the whole thing and hoping for the best with a new one. Plus, one of the towel racks we ordered isn’t square, so we have to return that too! This is the reno job that just can’t be finished!
Otherwise, we had a great time with my brother and his family. The kids got the chance to go to the zoo, visit with some extended family and friends, take the train, and went rock climbing! They were exhausted by the end of the weekend (and so were all the adults!).
I finally got the chance to finish Fable by Adrienne Young and really enjoyed it! With adventure on the high seas, twists and turns, a little romance, and plenty of secrets – I loved every minute of it. And thankfully, since it ended on a cliffhanger, the second title in the duology was just published this year. I’ll be grabbing it at work this morning!
What I’m Planning to Read
I did start Shadow and Bone but only got a few pages in, so I’m going to put that one on pause so I can read Namesake (the second in the duology). I do horribly if I can’t read a series back-to-back. I’m a quick reader, but I don’t retain much, so it’s always difficult if I take a break between books.
I’m hoping the next few weeks are pretty quiet – most of our renovations are finished. The house is fairly clean and there’s only a couple of weeks left for our Summer Reading program at work. My goals are to finish up this bathroom reno as soon as possible and then spend some serious time looking at my blog and seeing what I want to focus on in the next couple of months. And as always, get some more reading into my schedule!
