Four on Friday: National Motorcycle Day

It’s National Motorcycle Day! And although I’ve never actually been on a motorcycle myself, there are a lot of people in my life that love to ride including my brother-in-law. So of course, I’ve got to share some great children’s books about motorcycles!

Four on Friday: National Motorcycle Day

  • Girl on a Motorcycle by Amy Novesky, illustrated by Julie Morstad
“A picture book biography by an award-winning team about the first woman to ride a motorcycle around the world.”
  • Motorcycles on the Move by Lee Sullivan Hill
An easy nonfiction title to learn the answers to questions like, “What are some different kinds of motorcycles? And how do motorcycles work?”
  • The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary
“Pb-pb-b-b-b. Pb-pb-b-b-b.” With these magic vocables, Ralph the mouse revs up a dream come true–his very own motorcycle.” I remember this book being read aloud to me in elementary school! This would be a great read aloud to span across a number of ages.
  • My Papa Has a Motorcycle by Isabel Quintero, illustrated by Zeke Peña
“When Daisy Ramona zooms around her neighborhood with her papi on his motorcycle, she sees the people and places she’s always known. She also sees a community that is rapidly changing around her.”
