It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 4/5/2021
What I Read
I read all three books I planned to read this week! I’m super proud of myself because we’re still working on our bathroom and I had to work on Saturday. So overall, I’m glad I read as much as I did. I finished up Rosie Loves Jack by Mel Darbon. I was excited to read from the perspective of a main character with Down Syndrome, but in the end I felt like the storyline felt inflated with too many things.
Then, I read Indivisible by Daniel Aleman. And let me tell you, this debut ripped out my heart. As I get older, I’ve noticed that I relate much more to the adults in the story than the kids. This story was absolutely heartbreaking for everyone involved. The romance felt a little rushed in some ways, but overall, this was a spectacular story.
Finally, I ended the weekend finishing up Nina Soni, Master of the Garden by Kashmira Sheth, illustrated by Jeff Kocsmiersky. This is a perfect chapter book for kids just reaching past the 80-ish page books and looking for something a little longer. Definitely geared toward the younger side of middle grade, this is the third in the series about this Indian American young girl with a head full of ideas and a notebook to catch them all!
What I’m Planning to Read
Would you believe me if I told you I’m not actually sure what I plan on reading this week? I’m mostly caught up on my review books, so I think I might just browse the library stacks tomorrow and see what catches my eye. Plus, I’ll definitely be checking out some of middle grade lit fans online to see what they’re suggesting this week!
