Slice of Life Day 22: First Cookout of the Season
I had planned to make ham and potato soup for dinner last night. Those perfectly cooked potatoes, salty bites of ham, and lots of cheese – it’s heavenly. But, it was also gorgeous outside , a peak of warmer weather, blue skies, and time spent outdoors. So I flipped my meal plan and decided to grill instead. The first cookout of the season!
We have a charcoal grill and for all the extra work getting the coals ready, I love cooking on it. I probably still have a ways to go before I’d consider myself a grill master, but there’s nothing more fun than cooking over an open flame during the summer.
We grabbed some hot dogs, I made a quick potato salad, and rounded out the meal with a chopped salad for some vegetables. I wanted to eat outside, but it started cooling down really fast as the sun was setting, so we opted to stay in. It was the perfect way to end the quick little weekend I had after working on Saturday. I did get a lot of chores done around the house (not so much blogging stuff). But ending the weekend with our first cookout of the season was perfect!
This is my third year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be sharing brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. I hope you enjoy just a slice of my life as a librarian, book lover, and blogger!

There is nothing quite like having a cookout dinner and yours sounded delicious.

Love how the weather nixed your soup plans and called you outside to grill.
