It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 3/22/2021
What I Read
Finally, I actaully got some reading done this week! Even with working on Saturday, I was able to squeeze in some reading time! I finished up Ravage the Dark by Tara Sim. I really enjoyed this duology! And what I love is that both books were quite strong, there was a lot going on, but everything got tied up in the end and not always how I thought. I’m hoping to review this one a little more later this week!
I also read My Last Summer With Cass by Mark Crilley. This YA book takes a close-up look at friendship of best friends and what can cause it to change and how friends can sometimes make choices to protect themselves while letting each other down. This graphic novel is a super quick read, and one that I think a lot of teens can relate too.
I then read Squad Goals by Erika J. Kendrick. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one when I opened it up. Cheerleading was never something that interested me as kid and I think a lot of the cheerleaders at my school were like the “mean bees.” In the end, I really enjoyed the story arc of this title and the cast of characters was really great!
Plus, over the weekend I snuck in The Duke and I by Julia Quinn, the romance novel that the Netflix show, Bridgerton is based off of. I’m honestly surprised at how similarly the series matches up with the book. It was the perfect light reading for the weekend.
What I’m Planning to Read
I feel like I’m slowly beginning to make some progress on my TBR shelf and my book reviews, finally. Last night I started reading Somewhere Between Bitter and Sweet by Laekan Zea Kemp, a YA novel told in two voices. I’m also going to try and read Unicorn Island by Donna Galanti and Rosie Loves Jack by Mel Darbon.
March is Women’s History Month, so I’m going to do something similar to what I did for Black History Month. This month, though, I’m going to focus on biographies of women. There are so many amazing picture book biographies available, so I’ll be posting a new title every day on my Instagram during the month of March. So, stop by and let me know what you think! There are so many amazing books to share!
