Review:

Think a modern Nate the Great, told from the perspective of the dog! This is the seventh installment of the King & Kayla series. And a really great example of what a beginning chapter book should be. With a controlled vocabulary, lots of white space, and illustrations to support the text, this book will make readers feel confident and excited about reading!

I love the mystery aspect as well, simple enough to solve in about 50 pages. But with enough red herring and clues to throw you off the track and maybe even solve the mystery before you get to the end. And besides, how can you not love a book written from the perspective of a very eager pup who wants to help and LOVES absolutely everything?

Verdict:

A wonderful suggestion for kids who have mastered easy readers and are looking for the next step, the King & Kayla series is a whole lot of whodunit fun! Check out the publisher’s website for great activities and a teacher’s guide too!
