Slice of Life Day 17: Luck of the Irish
Yesterday was a really lucky day for me! As Michael Scott from The Office would say, “I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.” And yesterday, the luck of the Irish was working in my favor for St. Patrick’s Day!
Refrigerator
We’ve been battling with an appliance company since last August because our brand-new refrigerator was running very loudly for hours at a time. Finally, on Tuesday, they agreed to replace it. It’s been seven months of service appointments, phone calls, being on hold, emails, the run-around. I’m not one to complain typically, but this was just absolutely ridiculous. So, long story short, the company agreed to replace it, but couldn’t tell me when as COVID was causing delays, yada, yada, yada. Well, I got a phone call yesterday and they’re delivering the new fridge tomorrow! I’m cautiously optimistic about it. My partner keeps saying, he’ll believe it when it’s actually in the house.
Bathroom Vanity
The other awesome thing that happened was that our vanity was back in stock at Home Depot. I’ve been searching for a vanity for a few months now. We’re renovating our main bathroom – nothing major, but a new coat of paint, new light, and new vanity. As much as I’d love to re-tile the shower and change out the flooring, it’s just not in the budget right now.
So, the space we have is tight – the vanity can’t be any bigger than 42″ (and that’s a squeeze), but the kicker is that it can’t be any deeper than 20″ max. Like I said the space is small. Plus, as an added inconvenience, our drainage pipe goes through the floor, not the wall which means I have to take that into consideration too. So, many of the vanities I loved are 22″ deep, that must be a typical size. And a lot of the styles I liked have drawers, which are not cut out for the drain pipe.
Yesterday at dinner, I got an email that said the vanity that I loved was back in stock. This vanity was the perfect color, size, design, you name it. Plus, it was one that actually fit my budget – you’d be shocked at the price of vanities! So my partner and I were scurrying around, jumping on the computer getting the credit card so that we could order it before it went out of stock again.
Overall, the luck of the Irish was with me yesterday! Fingers crossed all goes smoothly with my fridge install and that my vanity comes without any damage!
This is my third year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be sharing brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. I hope you enjoy just a slice of my life as a librarian, book lover, and blogger!
