Slice of Life Day 16: Bathroom Renovations
March seems to be the time that we do a lot of our renovations. Most likely because I’m getting cabin fever from being indoors all winter long, the holidays are over so there’s a little more free time, and I’m looking for ways to brighten up the indoors. This year, we’re working on bathroom renovations.
Our main bathroom is the only room in the entire house that hasn’t been painted since we moved in about 7 years ago. Every other space has been painted or renovated, some even painted twice! Most of the main living spaces are a neutral gray with pops of color, which is awesome. All of the bedrooms are shades of blue and green – not necessarily intentional, but it works.
Paint Color
This bathroom we decided to go a little more dramatic. It’s super tiny for being the main bathroom for the house. Because our house was built in the 1950s, the rooms aren’t huge. And this was the only full bath, until we re-modeled our lower level (it’s a split level) bathroom to include a walk-in shower. So, my partner suggested going with a dark green and I’m all for it! The bathroom does have a huge window which is awesome and when it comes down to it there are very few walls to actually paint.
My brother and sister-in-law suggested the paint company Clare online. They have a much smaller curated collection of paints than what you might find at Home Depot or Lowes. This is awesome for some very indecisive about paint. I fell in love with the color “Current Mood.” Plus, their customer service is unbelievable. I ordered the paint Friday night and on Sunday, completely realized that I needed something that was more of a semi-gloss than an eggshell for the bathroom. At 8pm Sunday night, I emailed them with my questions and by 9pm, we had re-ordered their trim paint which is a soft semi-gloss rather than the eggshell. So amazingly quick and simple!
Patching Drywall
So, while we wait for the paint to arrive, we’re patching holes and cleaning everything up. Plus, I found trim paint in the basement leftover from the last bathroom reno – so that’s awesome! We’re also waiting on a vanity that is, of course, out of stock right now. Hopefully, by early April the bathroom will be ready to unveil!
This is my third year participating in the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll be sharing brief posts that show a glimpse of my life in story-format. I hope you enjoy just a slice of my life as a librarian, book lover, and blogger!

Who knew finding a vanity to fit the space we have and the style we want would be so difficult!

I’m totally w/ you on the home renovation front. A house feels so fresh and comfortable after some sprucing up. I hope your vanity arrives soon.

With the warm weather coming, I’m hoping to do some outdoor renovation too – looking at putting on a deck in our backyard!
